Connect a wallet. That's the account.
Find anyone by name or address.

MLS encryption over XMTP, sealed on your device before it's ever sent. Our servers never see a word.
Send or request ETH and USDC on Base. See the dollar value and network fee before you sign.
Your wallet is your account and your ENS name is your handle. No email, phone number or password.
A desktop app for Mac and Windows at launch. iOS and Android apps follow.
MetaMask, Rainbow, Coinbase Wallet or 300+ others. One signature sets up your keys.
Type an ENS name like sarah.eth, or paste any address.
Message, react, share photos. Send money when you need to.
Under 60 seconds is the target we design to. Times shown are illustrative.
We designed Chainmail so our servers hold nothing that matters. Here's exactly what exists where.
Locked with a key that only exists on your devices. Your wallet signs once to create it, then never touches your messages.
The XMTP network carries it as scrambled data. Nobody along the way can read it. That includes us.
Unlocked on their device, and only there. The words exist in two places: your phone and theirs.
When notifications arrive, our push server will only learn that something came in for one of your chats: not who sent it, and not what it says. Your phone opens it and decrypts it. There's nothing for us to read, store or hand over.
Cosmetics are optional and purely visual. Nothing is locked behind them.
MetaMask, Rainbow and Coinbase Wallet, plus 300+ others through WalletConnect.
Base at launch. You'll see the network fee before every payment. Arbitrum and Polygon are planned next.
Yes. You only pay the network's fee when you send money.
Later we plan to sell optional profile cosmetics. They're purely visual, and nothing will be locked behind them.
No. They're encrypted on your device and travel over XMTP as ciphertext. Chainmail doesn't run a server that receives them.
Scammers make wallet addresses that start and end like one you know. Chainmail compares every new address with the people you already chat with and warns you before you pay a lookalike.
The first time you pay any wallet, you confirm its full address. Payment requests from strangers can't be paid until you accept the chat.
More on safety in Chainmail, with quick answers to common questions.
Yes. Make an invite link and set a token or NFT on Base that people must hold. When someone asks to join, Chainmail checks their wallet on chain and shows you the result before you add them.
No token, nothing to earn. It's a messaging app.
It's in development with no date yet. Join the waitlist and we'll tell you when early access opens.
Early access opens in waves. One email when it's your turn. Nothing else.
